Originally known as the Chemists and Allied Trades Packaging Company, it specialised in herbal remedies crafted from botanical ingredients and essential oils, with products like Cherry Slumber Tea and the iconic BarkOff cough mixture. Founded by Everard Carter in Frizinghall, Yorkshire, the company saw generational growth, with Everard's nephew Norman Carter rebranding it as Carter Brothers in 1928. In response to changes in healthcare, the business shifted its focus in the 1960s, branching into bath, body, and skincare products under the leadership of Dirk Fikkert. Renamed Fikkert's Limited, the company launched its renowned Fruits of Nature range. Today, the brand is led by Richard Fikkert, Everard's great nephew, and his wife, Julia, continuing the legacy with a future generation already learning the craft.
