How to Host the Perfect Mother's Day

By Francesca Leon - 14th January 2025

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we think it's high time to start to think about the ways to treat yourself or the wonderful mother figures in your life to a day they'll truly cherish. Motherhood is undoubtedly a monumental role, filled with countless joys but also its fair share of stresses. Having said that, it's worth noting that many other individuals play vital roles in nurturing and guiding us through life, and this Mother’s Day, we want to honour them too. Whether your idea of a celebration involves being at home or venturing out for some fun, Mother’s Day is a family affair. So let's raise a toast to the aunties, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, and all those who have contributed to shaping us with their love and care.

Make the most of being at home

Breakfast in Bed: Start the day off right by serving up a delicious breakfast in bed for the special mother in your life. She'll appreciate the pampering and thoughtfulness, whether it's a full English breakfast, fluffy pancakes, or a simple continental spread.

Sunday Lunch: Gather the family together, and set the table for a traditional Sunday roast dinner. Whether you love succulent roast beef, or tender roast chicken, or you prefer a veggie option, it's a comforting and classic way to celebrate Mother's Day. Just don’t forget the Yorkies.

Sushi Making: Get creative and spend some time in the kitchen together with sushi-making. Learn the art of sushi making, and then savour your homemade creations. This is a fun and interactive way to bond while exploring your culinary skills.

An Out of the House Adventure

Afternoon Tea: Treat Mum to a luxury afternoon tea experience. Indulge in an array of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, delicate pastries, and a selection of fine teas. Often you can make it a boozy one and add a glass or two prosecco if that’s more your style.

Day Trip to the Beach: If the weather is up to scratch, why not take a trip to the English seaside? Enjoy a walk along the sandy shore, treat yourselves to some classic fish and chips, indulge in an ice cream, and have fun spending the afternoon in the lively arcades by the seafront.

Brunch: Both a relaxed and laid-back celebration at home where you can whip up a variety of brunch dishes, or you can take mum out and opt for a bottomless brunch, enjoying a wonderful meal together taking the late morning into the early afternoon.

Get crafty

Cooking Class: Whether it’s pasta making or you want to polish up on your knife skills, a cooking class together is a great way to learn how to prepare a new cuisine or master a particular culinary skill. It’s an exciting and educational experience to create memories together.

Art Workshop: Tap into your creative side with an art and craft workshop. Spend the day painting, sculpting, or crafting together, allowing each person to express themselves artistically, this can also double up as a gift for Mum as you will be able to create adorable keepsakes.

Throw a Party

Garden Party: Why not go all out and host a charming garden party complete with a colour theme decorations and floral arrangements? Whip up or buy some delicious treats for your guests to indulge in. Set up a beautiful outdoor space with blankets, cushions, and fairy lights, and enjoy the afternoon of conversation and laughter with your favourite people. A party is an ideal way to celebrate multiple women at once.

Set the scene

There's truly nothing quite as heartwarming as waking up to a house adorned with delightful decorations. Picture the glow of lights twinkling in the morning light, colourful banners, and a beautifully arranged bouquet of dried flowers with a card

If you're crafting a lavish meal, paying attention to the details of your table setting is essential. Create a focal point with wooden serving boards and Dried Flower Offcuts at the centre of the table. Take the time to select glassware, adding a touch of elegance to each place setting.
